A 19-year-old woman who tragically died after a dog attacked her at home suffered severe traumatic injuries to her neck, an inquest has heard. Jamie-Lea Biscoe was found by her father in an upstairs bedroom at their home in the village of Leaden Roding, Essex, according to court co-ordinator Matthew Austin.

Mr Austin revealed she was discovered with “serious traumatic injuries to her neck” on the evening of 10 April. He suggested these injuries were likely “caused by one of the family’s dogs“.

A forensic post-mortem examination listed her cause of death as “neck injuries pending investigation of histology and toxicology”. Essex senior coroner Lincoln Brookes stated he had received a written request from Essex Police to pause the coronial proceedings while a criminal investigation is underway.

He suspended proceedings, expressing: “I do offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Jamie-Lea Biscoe on what can only be described as a tragic loss of life.”

Essex Police previously reported that officers were summoned to a property in Long Hide in Leaden Roding at 10.45pm on 10 April.

Ms Biscoe was declared dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow, arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death, has been released on bail until July while investigations continue, the force later confirmed.

The dog, a family pet thought to be a lurcher cross, has been seized and tests are currently being conducted to officially determine its exact breed, police have confirmed.

Earlier this month, we reported how Jack Biscoe, the devastated dad ofJamie-Lea, begged police to destroy the dog, named Shy, along with her two puppies.

Jack, 37, reportedly pleaded with cops who seized the female blue-merle Lurcher-cross to put her to sleep immediately. He told the Sun: “I just said to them ‘please just put her down’. I don’t want to see her ever again.

“I just don’t think that dog should live anymore.”

Jack further stated: “We know that she did. She was the one that was covered in blood and she attacked me.”

His other dogs Bella and Mouse, Shy’s 18-month-old pups, are not thought to have been involved in the attack which killed Jamie-Lea. But horse trainer Jack is also calling for them to be destroyed, the Sun reported.

He said: “Those dogs have seen too much. They need to be put down in my opinion.

“I don’t want them to live in this world now. Even though the youngsters didn’t do anything, they’ve seen too much and I don’t think they could ever be placed with a family again.

“They could never possibly be rehomed after that situation. I think the best thing for them would be to put them to sleep.”

Jack, who bought Shy as a puppy at seven weeks old, said there had been no indication the family dog was dangerous, as per the Sun. He said the pet had no history of biting or aggressive behaviour and described her as the “softest dog”.

While trying to revive his daughter, who had collapsed on the floor between his bed and bedside table, Jack was also attacked by Shy. She reportedly bit off part of his ear, which will require reconstructive surgery, and left puncture wounds in his arms.

The devastated dad added: “My daughter was not killed by an XL Bully, she was killed by a genuine family dog. I thought I could trust that dog with my life and it took my daughter’s life.

“She was my daughter’s best friend and she still killed her. I lost my entire life on Friday when my daughter was murdered by another member of my family.

“Witnessing the horror and destruction it has caused me, it’s not worth it. Treat them as dogs, give them their beds, be careful.”
