A British three-year-old rushed to hospital after being discovered “floating face-down” in her holiday pool has died. The youngster was resuscitated at the poolside of the family’s rented four-bedroom villa in Pollensa in northern Majorca following the incident around 8pm on Wednesday.
Her parents pulled her from the water before police and paramedics took over, administering CPR at the scene upon their arrival. However, she remained in a “very serious at Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma yesterday morning following her first night in hospital after being admitted with a very weak pulse.
Overnight it emerged that tragically the child had lost her fight for life. She passed away yesterday afternoon.
A Civil Guard investigation into the incident was ongoing today. A force spokesman said this morning: ” condition at Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma yesterday morning after her first night in hospital, having been admitted with an extremely weak pulse.
Overnight it emerged that tragically the youngster had lost her battle for life, passing away yesterday afternoon.
A Civil Guard investigation into the incident was continuing today, with a force spokesman confirming this morning: “The child rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening sadly died in hospital yesterday afternoon around 3.30pm.”
A well-placed source added: “She was British.”
The tragedy marks the fourth such incident involving a UK family in just over a week, following the deaths of three children aged one, three and four in separate incidents on the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands.

The incident took place in the municipality of La Oliva, located in the northern part of the island. The young girl was revived and stabilised at the scene after she suffered a cardiac arrest, before being airlifted to the Materno Infantil University Hospital on Gran Canaria and admitted to its paediatric intensive care unit in a critical condition.
Tragically, it was confirmed on Wednesday that the toddler had passed away due to “irreversible neurological damage” which made her recovery impossible.
Sebastian Quintana, president of maritime safety organisation Canarias 1500 Km de Costa, expressed his condolences to the girl’s family, stating: “With deep sorrow, we send our condolences to his parents and the entire family. I would like to take this opportunity to remind mothers and fathers of the need to constantly watch over little children and get into the water with them.”
An investigation by the Civil Guard, coordinated by a local court, is believed to be ongoing.
In another tragic incident, a British four-year-old girl drowned in a hotel swimming pool in Lanzarote last Saturday. Despite desperate attempts to revive her at the scene by emergency medical responders, the youngster sadly lost her life.
The incident occurred around 1.30pm at an unnamed hotel in the resort of Playa Blanca, prompting the mobilisation of ambulances, police and an emergency services helicopter.
And just last Wednesday, a British three-year-old boy tragically died after falling into a swimming pool at a holiday home where he was staying with his parents near the Costa.
The alarm was sounded around 8.30am on 17 June at a farmhouse in the village of Periana, part of Spain’s La Axarquia region and roughly 30 miles north-east of Malaga.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, rushed to the rural property, with a helicopter also dispatched as part of the response.
However, despite their efforts, they were unable to save the young boy, who was declared dead at the scene.
In a statement and direct message to the boy’s parents following the tragic incident, which happened just a day after the family arrived at their holiday rental, Periana Council said: “Today is a deeply sad day for our town.”
