Jubilant England captain Harry Kane and his teammates celebrated their stunning victory at the Azteca with a tender moment with their loved ones minutes after the final whistle
England’s heroes stunned Mexico with a backs-to-the-wall World Cup victory and were then showered with kisses from their wives and girlfriends. Harry Kane, whose second half penalty sealed an epic win in the Azteca, was seen sharing a kiss with wife Kate.
The couple embraced after the skipper lost his voice while singing Wonderwall amid scenes of sheer elation following the final whistle as players and fans once again belted out the anthem of the tournament.
The Three Lions’ epic victory at the fortress Azteca – where Mexico had lost just twice in the previous 89 competitive games – has been hailed as their best World Cup win since 1966 when they won the tournament.
As beer and rain soaked fans were seen celebrating in the bars and streets around the stadium, Thomas Tuchel’s stars made their way into the stands to share the special moment with their families.
Kane – branded a great player by Donald Trump – was given a hero’s welcome by Kate, the mother of this four children, and the pair were seen embracing.
Before the game, Kate showed her support for England by posting pictures to her Instagram of a Hugo Boss custom corset-like football shirt embossed with the ‘Kane’ surname in red.
Dressed in the trendy team tracksuits, heroic goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was also met with a welcoming committee as he took in the moment with his family.
He was pictured smooching wife Megan while their son was squeezed in between the loved-up pair. Megan, who has previously been dubbed the new Coleen Rooney as the modern queen of the Wags, is usually clad head-to-toe in designer outfits.
But she was seen wearing a poncho in the stands as she tried to take cover from the storm that had battered Mexico City in the hours leading up to the game.
Captain Kane was also seen hugging ex-England star Peter Crouch during the post-match celebrations, which went long into the night back home as sleep-deprived supporters stayed up until dawn to toast Tuchel’s men.
Elsewhere, Declan Rice was seen posing for pictures with family and friends in the stands following the dramatic victory. Two quick-fire goals from Jude Bellingham had given England a 2-0 lead, but Quiñones quickly pulled one back for the hosts.
Despite Jarrell Quansah being sent off on 54 minutes, a Harry Kane penalty and an inspired rearguard defensive display secured a 3-2 victory at the site of Diego Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God” goal in 1986.
