A lone England supporter was attacked and punched by a group of ‘cowardly’ Argentina fans during a street brawl in a popular British holiday destination

An England supporter was mobbed and attacked by furious Argentina fans ahead of the heated semi-final.

A group of Argentinians chased and punched a lone Englishman in a tourist hot spot sparking chaos in the streets. The two nations have already come to blows before a ball has even been kicked ahead of a tense World Cup semi final.

One England fan was swarmed by a group of fuming supporters who chased him out of the bar and into the road. The brawl started outside of Budha Social Club in Cala D’or, Mallorca, Spain.

The group of Argentina fans grabbed the Brit before throwing punches at him as he attempted to cover his head. The violent clash sparked a brawl between the nations with a woman rushing to his aid.

A female, wearing a Messi shirt, attempted to block her from the male pursuers as the two women grappled one another. The brawl then continued up the strip as more and more fans got involved sparking chaos at the popular Brit holiday spot.

An onlooker filmed the fight after England secured their place in the last four of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Norway.

Hours later, Argentina sealed their place in the semi final with a dramatic 3-1 win against Switzerland. The two sides will now meet at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on 15 Jul.

Football fans were left shocked by the footage. One person said: “Big group of cowards against one guy who probably doesn’t want any trouble.

“Would love to see these try any nonsense with a small group of good lads from the North East or Liverpool.” Another viewer added: “Disappointed I didn’t see a plastic patio chair get flung.”

One other person said: “This is so nice. They met at a neutral location to exchange blows.” Another commented: “I only see four cowardly Argentines chasing one Englishman.”

Police are on red alert for the World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina in Atlanta, where there’s set to be limited segregation and officers have been made firmly aware of the historical context behind the match.

The two countries have history both on and off the pitch, stretching from Diego Maradona’s infamous Hand of God goal at the 1986 World Cup to the Falkland Islands war, which Argentina’s players sung about after beating Switzerland on Sunday.
