Keely Hodgkinson stole attention on social media as she showcased her support for England in the World Cup.

The middle-distance runner rose to prominence at Tokyo 2020 when she won Olympic silver in the 800m event before going to capture gold in the same event at Paris 2024.

Her status as champion of the world is something the Three Lions are certainly hoping to replicate this summer and will do so aim with the backing of Hodgkinson. The 24-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday – a day after England’s 2-1 victory over Norway to progress to the semi-finals – to post a stunning selfie wearing an England kit.

The Team GB star shared the snap on her story with all 630,000 of her followers able to view the photo where she showed off her toned midriff, while appearing to wear red bottoms.

Hodgkinson will be among the millions cheering on Thomas Tuchel’s side against Argentina on Wednesday as a win against the reigning world champions will mark England’s first World Cup final appearance since their 1966 triumph.

Their place in the final four came off the back of Jude Bellingham’s brace against Norway. The Real Madrid superstar became only the fifth player ever to score in back-to-back knockout games in the summer tournament.

The 23-year-old was showered with praise after the match but controversy ensued as he seemed to dismiss Tuchel’s complaints that England made numerous errors against Norway and were fortunate to win.

When asked to respond to his manager’s post-game remarks, a noticeably miffed Bellingham said: “Yeah, well, whatever. Whatever. It’s difficult out there. It’s a tough shift. All the players have put in a tough shift, so my thoughts and appreciation goes to the players who were out there and put in a great shift yet again.”

The midfielder was pressed on Tuchel’s comments in another post-match interview, as he added: “Maybe he doesn’t know what it’s like to play in those kind of conditions against Erling Haaland, [Martin] Odegaard, [Antonio] Nusa, [Alexander] Sorloth.

“That’s not an easy team to play against. So, I think we’ve tried to create a positive environment. You’re not going to win every game, popping the ball and making a thousand passes. Sometimes you have to win dirty, and we’ve done that again tonight.”
