Any runner knows that the right headphones can make or break a session – wearing anything too uncomfortable will likely cut a run short. Now, Amazon has a deal on innovative headphones that one shopper dubbed ‘comfortable to wear for long periods’ – and over 500 have been bought in the past month.

The Bone Conduction Headphones usually cost £129.99 on Amazon, but have been slashed by 69% to £39.99 in a limited-time deal that ends at midnight. This is for the black model – they also come in white and orange (currently reduced to £41.99).

Unlike regular headphones that sit in or over your ears, these have an ‘open-ear bone conduction design’ that means users can listen to music or podcasts, while still being aware of their surroundings – perfect for anyone going for a run. They’re also beloved by swimmers, as they have IPX8-level protection, meaning they can be fully submerged in water up to five meters deep for up to two-and-a-half hours.

They have two modes – Bluetooth, which the listing says delivers a ‘smooth listening experience’ on land, and MP3, which can be used underwater and stores up to 1,500 songs internally on the headphones. It promises a comfortable listening experience, thanks to ‘soft, skin-friendly silicone pads on the earcups’, and the open design promotes airflow. They provide up to 8 hours of continuous playback, with magnetic charging taking just 2 hours to fully charge.

As an alternative, shoppers could look to the Shokz OpenMove Wireless Bluetooth Headphones in Grey, which cost £79 from Argos. Billed as ‘ideal for runners, cyclists and anyone who wants to stay alert outdoors’, these headphones similarly sit outside the ears so users can stay aware of their surroundings while still enjoying music.

Another option is the CREATIVE Outlier Free Pro+ Wireless Bluetooth Headphones, retailing for £79.99 from Currys. These headphones also use bone conduction technology and have a battery life of up to 10 hours while being water and sweat-resistant.
