Iconic former Man Utd training ground gets ‘early start’ on much-needed revamp
Manchester United’s former training ground, The Cliff – where the Class of 92 cut their teeth – looks to be getting a much-needed facelift.
The Cliff holds a special place in United’s fans’ minds – with the Busby Babes fine-tuning their skills there, George Best breaking through at the complex, and the Class of 92 earning their stripes at the ground.
However, in recent years, the Glazers have been slammed for allowing the training ground to be reduced to rubble after United moved to Carrington in 1999. According to the Daily Mail, cherry-pickers and builders have now been spotted at the site.

One United club member told the Daily Mail last month: “The place should be a museum, somewhere to be proud of. But it’s had hardly any money spent on it in 20 years and it is falling to bits. It’s shameful and it shows that the Americans do not care.”
Another fumed: “It’s utterly heartbreaking. You read about Old Trafford and all the money that needs to be spent on it, the roof leaking – the real neglect is at The Cliff.”
The Cliff is now used by United’s women’s team and a number of the Red Devils’ youth teams.

United had previously announced they were set to start work on the site over the summer – undergoing major refurbishments to aid the crumbling site.
However, the latest development points to United starting the work early, with the season still underway.
