‘I began consuming human meat after working at morgue – nothing compares to cannibalism’

WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Nico Claux, who is dubbed ‘the Vampire of Paris,’ says he started having fantasies about eating human flesh aged 12 after reading about famous cannibal Issei Sagawa

A self-proclaimed cannibal has revealed how he developed an appetite for human flesh whilst working at a morgue, describing his first taste of the forbidden meat. Convicted killer Nico Claux, dubbed ‘the Vampire of Paris,’ became obsessed with death following his grandfather’s passing when he was just 10 years old.

Claux claims his cannibalistic urges began at 12 after learning about notorious cannibal Issei Sagawa, who murdered a Dutch woman in Paris in 1981 before consuming parts of her corpse.

This morbid fascination drove him to seek employment at a morgue where he could sample human flesh for the first time, setting him on a dark trajectory involving murder, cannibalism, blood-drinking and occult practices.

During an appearance on the Anything Goes with James English podcast, he confessed that the corpses drew him to morgue work, where he began indulging his disturbing cravings, reports the Mirror.

He said: “I started having fantasies about biting, tearing flesh apart with my teeth, psychopathic fantasies. It was a fetish.

“My first job was as a morgue worker. I worked in a morgue in Paris. In France at the time there was no formal education to become a morgue worker. You were a hospital orderly and they would say ‘are you interested in that job’ and you would get it.

“When I first started to work in the morgue, I saw how easy it was when I was left alone for the autopsies to get strips of flesh from the bodies and eat them.

“First it was raw, and then I’d cut little strips, brought them home and cooked them several ways.”

The meagre portions he could smuggle from the morgue weren’t sufficient for the cannibal’s appetite.

He proceeded to murder Thierry Bissonnier in Paris, a man he’d encountered online, with the aim of consuming parts of his body. However, he was interrupted before he could fully execute his gruesome scheme.

Claux was nabbed after attempting to forge one of his victim’s bank cheques to purchase a VCR and was ultimately handed a 12-year prison sentence. He was freed after serving seven years and four months behind bars.

The cannibal killer reveals that everyone constantly quizzes him about the flavour of human flesh, and whilst he likens it to a particular animal’s meat, he insists taste wasn’t the driving factor.

Claux explained: “People always ask me about the taste. And it wasn’t about the taste. I can say that it tastes like horse meat because at the time I was eating horse tartare.

“But for me it was more about the rush, the sensation. Something like I had never experienced before. It was keeping me constantly on a high, aroused.”

Discussing the killing, he continued: “The goal was not just murder for the sake of murder. It was to get the meat. Because I had already been eating small strips of meat in the morgue and I had developed this craving.

“I wanted to kill to harvest the meat to get the meat home.”
