Officers are desperately appealing for two witnesses to step forward after reports a teenager was sexually assaulted in a UK city. The 19-year-old woman is believed to have been attacked during the early morning hours of October 26, on Hotel Street in Leicester city centre.
An urgent probe was immediately launched after the allegations emerged, resulting in a 27-year-old man being arrested shortly afterwards. He has now been bailed pending further investigations.
Leicestershire Police understand the female complainant had a brief conversation with the suspect prior to the alleged attack, though further details have not been disclosed.
As inquiries progress, Leicestershire Police have launched an appeal for two potential witnesses to make contact, who they suspect may have observed the assault, reports the Express.
The man and woman are believed to have been present in the vicinity at the time and could prove crucial in securing the alleged perpetrator’s capture.
The woman is described as having lengthy dark hair and was reportedly dressed in a black cardigan featuring horizontal white stripes along the bottom and sleeves.
The man is believed to have been sporting a blue hat, green jacket and dark trousers when the attack allegedly occurred.
Discussing the incident and the search for the two vital witnesses, Detective Constable Jon Williams said: “It is not suspected that the male and female witnesses have been involved in the reported offence in any way.
“However, as potential witnesses, they may have information which could assist our ongoing enquiries.
“Please think back to if you were in the city centre on the evening of Saturday 25 October into the early hours of Sunday 26 October and if this was you walking through Hotel Street as described above.
“If it is, please get in contact with us. You are not in any trouble but may be able to help us in our investigation. Thank you.”
