Popular UK vacation parks to get a £50 million makeover – together with excessive ropes and Bear Grylls escape rooms

Popular UK holiday parks are set to get a £50 million makeover and will include high ropes as well as Bear Grylls escape rooms.

Parkdean Resorts operates 65 parks across the country and saw three million holidaymakers enjoy their facilities last year.

Now, the company has announced it will invest a whopping £50 million boost to improve some of its parks.

Pitch expansions, retail developments and improved facilities are among some of the plans as part of the makeover.

Two parks in particular – Highfield Grange Holiday Park in Essex and Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth – are set to receive ‘major transformations’ of £5 million each.

Brand new facilities will launch at the two resorts, including immersive Bear Grylls escape rooms.

Indoor adventure golf is also on the cards, as well as improved high and low ropes.

What’s more, the company hopes for a ‘record number of new activities’ for guests of all ages will be added by next spring.

A new sports bar, Hat-Tricks, is also set to open in the parks and holidaymakers will have the choice form a variety of food and drinks.

Interactive indoor sports will also be available to play in the bar.

Meanwhile, the two parks will also have their Tots Zones expanded with the investment, both indoor and outdoor.

This will include bigger and better play areas for toddlers and children aged four and over will benefit from off-road driving ranges.

Steve Richards, CEO at Parkdean Resorts, said: ‘In 2026 we will be investing approximately £50m in our holiday parks to improve facilities, elevate guest experience, and keep families coming back to these fantastic locations throughout the UK.

‘As the UK’s leading holiday park operator, guests return to us year after year because they trust us to deliver the quality and consistency they expect.

‘Next year guests will see Highfield Grange and Vauxhall transformed with major investments to upgrade and diversify the on-park activities.

‘Ongoing investment within the communities we operate in is also a key part of our strategy, and we are committed to raising standards to remain at the forefront of the UK holiday market.’

Steve added that the company is ‘excited’ for guests to visit the parks and see what’s on offer next year.

The £50million investment is also set to boost the local economy. It will create 100 new jobs ranging from seasonal positions to full-time roles.

It comes after a £140 million transformation back in 2022 for 16 parks.

This led to the launch of the Bear Grylls Survival Academy and high ropes.
