Donald Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt defends vile ‘piggy’ outburst – ‘It was respectful’

Donald Trump’s spokeswoman was asked why he lashed out with the vile insult at today’s White House press briefing – and she said reporters should “appreciate his frankness”

Donald Trump calling a female reporter “piggy” was “respectful”, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed today.

She was asked why he lashed out with the vile insult at today’s White House press briefing.

“The president is very frank and honest with everyone in this room,” she claimed taking aim at more reporters in the room.

“You’ve all seen it yourself, you’ve all experienced it yourselves, it’s one of the many reasons the American people re-elected this president, because of his frankness. He calls out fake news when he sees it. He gets frustrated with reporters when you lie about him. When you spread fake news about his administration. But he also is the most transparent president in history and as you all well know he gives all of you unprecedented access.”

She went on to suggest that reporters should be thankful for the President insulting and berating them on a daily basis for doing their jobs properly.

“You are in the Oval Office almost every day asking the president questions,” she said. “So I think the president being frank and open and honest to your faces rather than hiding behind your backs is frankly a lot more respectful than what you saw in the last administration when you had a president who lied to your face and then didn’t speak to you for weeks. And hid upstairs and didn’t take your questions.

“I think everyone in this room should appreciate the frankness and the openness that you get from President Trump on a near daily basis.”

Earlier in the briefing, she defended Trump’s online posts calling for Democrat politicians to be put to death. A group of Democrat members of congress who are veterans made a video calling on current personnel to be prepared to disobey illegal or unconstitutional orders – as US military rules require them to do.

Asked whether Trump wanted Democrats to be executed, she said “no.” But she then claimed the video was “dangerous”, and suggested it was encouraging members of the military to defy “lawful” orders, which it does not.
