Horror photos of crash that hospitalised paramedics and police as three arrested

Horror crash pictures have been revealed after paramedics and police officers were rushed to hospital following the smash this morning (Saturday). Three men have now been arrested after the incident.

At around 12:15am two crashes took place on the A130 between the Rayleigh Spur and Sadlers Farm roundabouts, leaving both paramedics and off-duty police injured. It was reported that a white Nissan X-Trail was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway. Paramedics and off-duty police officers responded to this incident.

Emergency service personnel were whisked off to hospital after two separate accidents took place at the same spot. As off-duty police officers and paramedics were attending to one crash, another collision happened, resulting in hospitalisation for those assisting at the scene.

An investigation has been launched, with police appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Police are investigating a 23-year-old man, from Canvey, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle and driving while unfit through drink or drugs; a 29-year-old man, from Westcliff, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a Class B or Class C drug, and being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink or drugs; and a 39-year-old man, from Canvey, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Essex Police said the paramedic and police officer suffered serious injuries.

An Essex Police spokesperson earlier stated: “We are responding to a serious collision on the A13. It was reported a single vehicle was involved in a collision in the early hours of 10 January close to Sadlers Farm roundabout.

“Paramedics and off-duty police officers responded to this incident. While at the scene a second collision occurred leaving two paramedics and three off-duty officers injured, and all have been taken to hospital.

“We have closed the A130 between Sadlers Farm roundabout and the A1245 while we continue to work at the scene, and we thank drivers for their patience while we carry out our investigation. Drivers should check before they travel and plan their journeys accordingly. We will provide further updates regarding the road reopening throughout the day.”

It appears the roads have now been reopened. Ch Supt Morgan Cronin said: “The thoughts of everyone at Essex Police are with the emergency workers injured while responding to this incident – both they and their families are being provided with support from the force.”
