Moment BMW smashes into Hyundai as drivers get their roundabout lanes blended up – however who’s within the fallacious?
This is the moment a BMW smashes into a Hyundai and rams it off a roundabout in an incident that has ignited a fiery debate online.
Dashcam footage of the incident on the A1159 in Southend-on-Sea on February 20 shows the drivers emerging into the roundabout at the same moment.
The blue 2009 Hyundai Comfort enters the roundabout on the outside lane while the BMW X6 makes its way through on the inside lane.
And on approaching the first exit, the blue car signals to the right, appearing to try to avoid exiting.
However, the white car collides with the blue car at the second exit, sending it spiralling into the middle of the road and facing oncoming traffic.
Meanwhile, after initially stopping, the BMW appears to speed up in the aftermath of the crash.
A video of the accident, filmed by Daniel Wade, has since been uploaded on social media, racking up nearly a million views and over 34,400 likes.
And it has sparked a fierce debate online as both cars appear to have been driving in the incorrect lanes.

However, the white car collides with the blue car, sending it spiralling in the middle of the road and facing oncoming traffic – but social media users are at war about who was in the wrong
The 36-year-old witness, who was following behind, had to slam on his brakes to dodge the accident.
‘It’s a hard one, but in my opinion, it’s the blue [Hyundai’s fault],’ Daniel said. ‘Left lane is for straight on and left.
‘The right lane is straight on and right – but should the white BMW have seen the blue Hyundai?
‘Reaction [time] wasn’t much of an issue as it was a low speed.
‘But the crash then caused accidents from people seeing the blue Hyundai facing the wrong way.’
However, some social media users were quick to argue that the BMW was in the wrong.
‘The blue car is in the right lane but the BMW is in the wrong lane and without indicating,’ one said.
Meanwhile, a second said: ‘It’s worrying how many people are saying the BMW.’
‘Both of them were in the wrong lanes,’ a third argued, while another added: ‘Since when has the right hand lane been for left turning?’
