A ‘kind, modest and beautiful’ 23-year-old woman whose death sparked a murder investigation has been pictured for the first time.

Ellie Flanagan was found dead in the Corban Avenue area of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, on Saturday night by police officers carrying out inquiries relating to a car crash.

A 45-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody on Monday as investigators were granted an additional 36 hours of questioning.

Those who knew Ms Flanagan have paid tribute to the ‘most gentle girl’, who was involved in drama production.

Erin McManus said: ‘Rest in peace Ellie, we will never forget the happiness and magic you brought to our lives. We will cherish these memories forever.

‘You really were the most gentle and kindest girl anyone could meet. Absolutely devastated. A whole community is grieving and you will be sorely missed.’

Laura McKenna added: ‘RIP Ellie, such a beautiful girl inside and out, so good to all the children she cared for! She will be badly missed by everyone.’

Louise Beresford wrote: ‘Ellie lived a life of love, kindness and [had] the most beautiful smile. The love Ellie showed my children each day she opened the door to greet them will stay with them and me forever.
