Asda customers say ‘that is what I’m on about’ as ‘OMG’ cookies go on sale
The supermarket has launched its own Cereal Milk Cookies and fans say they are ‘addictive’
Asda has unveiled its own take on the viral Cereal Milk Cookies that helped trigger a bakery sensation at competitor Waitrose. Customers are already branding them “addictive”.
The retailer’s in-house bakery has discreetly rolled out fresh Cereal Milk Cookies, with four-packs retailing at £2.24. Asda states that each biscuit packs 326 calories and boasts cereal-flavoured chunks embedded within a tender cookie foundation.
The latest bakery offering was recently discovered in branches by well-known food account Newfoodsuk, which posted an image of the treats on Facebook. The upload swiftly drew interest from customers keen to hunt them down.
One person simply wrote: “Omg.” Another tagged a friend and said: “These are the cookies I was on about.”
A third noted: “Be nice these but too addictive for one person and high in sugars so best not.” The response echoes the buzz witnessed earlier this year, when Waitrose revived its viral Cereal Milk Cookies as part of an extensive bakery transformation.
The chain reintroduced the beloved favourite in May alongside 16 fresh patisserie items influenced by social media bakery phenomena, including biscuits, croissant cubes and loaded cookies. The treats had cultivated a devoted fanbase online after bakery enthusiasts lauded their pillowy texture and unique sugary cereal taste.
One customer previously hailed the Waitrose version as “the best on the market” while discussing the retailer’s bakery selection online. Asda’s fresh launch seems to capitalise on the same craze, delivering the trendy cereal milk flavour to its own bakery sections at a more affordable price.
