Alexander Isak left in tears and compelled off with harm after netting Liverpool purpose
Alexander Isak was reduced to tears after he was forced off with an injury against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.
Isak had been introduced to Liverpool and Spurs’ snoozefest in the second-half, and just over ten minutes after being subbed on by Arne Slot, he latched on to a through-ball from Florian Wirtz to find the far corner.
However, rather than running off to celebrate, Isak was left in a heap following a challenge from Micky van der Ven. The Dutchman had charged across the penalty area to try and block Isak’s shot, but caused the Swede to jar his knee after the strike.

“That is a sad sight for Isak. The could have been his lift-off moment. But he has picked up an injury,” Gary Neville who was on co-commentary for Sky Sports said.
And Isak looked visibly emotional as he covered his face with his jersey and had to be helped off the pitch by two of Liverpool’s physios.
“Isak is crying. I think that’s his season over,” one fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“That looks like an ACL for Isak. The man is crying. We’re so finished. So unlucky. Wirtz and Isak goal yet we can’t celebrate. We are cursed,” a second said. While a third posted: “This guy is unlucky…”
“This doesn’t look good, a fourth replied. As a fifth shared: “That’s gutting for Isak. Only his 2nd PL goal for the club and he can’t celebrate it.”
And another added: “You’re telling me Isak just scored and he’s now got injured AGAIN?!”
In Isak’s absence Hugo Ekitike doubled the Reds lead, and they were able to survive a scare to secure all three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
