Snoop Dogg names UK metropolis he desires to maneuver to – and it is dwelling to his favorite soccer crew

The rapper said: ‘That’s where my team is, and the fans are my people. It’s a proper working-class city, and I feel at home there’

Snoop Dogg claims that if he ever moves to the UK, it won’t be to A-lister magnet the Cotswolds – but to Swansea, home of the US rapper’s favourite football team.

The star, 54, said: “I’m sure people are gonna try and make US celebrities moving to the Cotswolds political. But it could just be because it’s a beautiful place and England is such a great country. Not everything’s got to have a deeper meaning.”

The hip-hop legend, currently in Italy with Team USA at the Winter Olympics as a hype man and ‘honorary coach’, added: “I hear it’s a beautiful place. But if Snoop is going to buy a property anywhere in the UK it’s going to be in Swansea.

“That’s where my team is, and the fans are my people. It’s a proper working-class city, and I feel at home there.”

Snoop – who was joined at the club in December by fellow co-owner and friend, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart – is set to make his long-awaited first appearance in the stands when he pitches up to see his side play against Preston North End next Tuesday.

He told the club website: “I heard so many great things about the atmosphere, especially when we play under the lights”.

The club said Snoop will appear pitchside prior to the game “to lead supporters in a pre-match display”.

It’s not hard to understand why Snoop – who was born and raised in the tough Eastside neighbourhood of Long Beach, California, and has spoken fondly before about his love of British culture – has an affinity with the working class.

Snoop said his own upbringing was “challenging”, but his devoted mother worked hard to keep food on the table and provide a bright future for him and his two brothers.

When it comes to Wales, his adored Swansea isn’t the only town in the country to have received a serious dollop of Hollywood glamour.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds famously bought Wrexham’s football team in 2021, alongside his pal, fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

The pair delight locals by turning up frequently at matches, chatting to fans and happily signing autographs. And West Coast rapper Snoop is bringing that same hands-on energy to rivals Swansea FC, after becoming a co-owner and investor in the club last July, declaring proudly that he wanted to return them to the Premier League and “make them a global name”.

He evidently wasn’t tempted to move close to where his “brother” David Beckham has a sprawling barn conversion in the Cotswolds village of Great Dew – but said he feels for him as his estrangement from eldest son Brooklyn continues.

Snoop said of “his boy”, who he’s been friends with for decades: “We have seen each other’s kids grow up, and one thing about David, there ain’t nothing more important to him than his family.

“I know the love that family has for each other. In time they’re gonna work things out.”

The star, who’s fronted a cooking show with his friend Martha and even published a cookbook, also spoke of big plans with another British pal, Gordon Ramsay.

Snoop said: “For real, he is one of the best chefs in the world. People thought Snoop was playing when he started cooking, but they know I am not playing now.

“We’ve been talking about it for a few years, but me and Gordon want to open up a restaurant in Vegas.”

Snoop has told of his dreams of opening a restaurant in Scotland with his foul-mouthed pal, confessing that the pair’s friendship wouldn’t put him off going into business with the Michelin-starred chef.

He said at the time: “I have told him I want to open a restaurant with him and maybe it might even be in Glasgow. For real, we are always swapping cooking tips and I do mean swapping. It’s not just one-way traffic, I send him tips as well – he respects Snoop as a chef.

“My boy Gordon has got a worse mouth than me but that’s only because of his passion.

“You don’t become the best chef in the world without having the passion he does.”
