Inside Prince William’s Aston Villa celebrations with beers and tears in late night time get together

Prince William was part of the boozy Aston Villa dressing room celebrations after their Europa League final victory over Freiburg in Istanbul

Prince William relished being part of the Aston Villa festivities as the future monarch found himself sipping beers during the dressing room celebrations after they clinched Europa League triumph.

The Prince of Wales is a devoted Villa supporter and has attended some of their most historic moments. He was there in Istanbul for their final victory, where they overcame German outfit Freiburg to claim a first major honour since 1996.

It marks their first European triumph since 1982 with Youri Tielemans and Emi Buendia netting first-half strikes to set the platform. Morgan Rogers provided the finishing touch after the break as William appeared visibly moved in the stands.

He was welcomed into the post-match festivities. Matty Cash revealed that he was sharing drinks with the squad in the changing room. “He deserves moments like these and hopefully he can let his hair down,” said the full-back.

The Prince was subsequently photographed alongside Unai Emery, who claimed his fifth Europa League crown, and Villa director Damian Vidagany as the trio posed with the gleaming trophy, reports the Mirror.

McGinn disclosed that William had immediately connected with the players before kick-off.

The Scot praised his personality and jested that he was welcome to join their celebratory beverage provided he covered the tab. McGinn said on TNT Sports: “He’s a classy guy, he was in the dressing room before the game.

“He’s a massive Villa fan so was never going to miss it, its great to have his support, he’s just a normal guy.” The Villa star confessed he was hoping the royal would celebrate alongside them.

“Hopefully he can have a couple of drinks with us and get his credit card out at the end of the night.”

Prince William has previously brought his son to matches, resulting in some memorable photographs, and he praised Villa’s achievements while also acknowledging one of their key missing players.

He said on social media: “Amazing night!! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff and everyone connected to the club! 44 years since the last taste of European silverware!

“Special shout out to Boubacar Kamara who has been out injured but is such an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations of this success…UTV (Up the Villa), VTID (Villa till I die).”

The celebrations continued beyond that point, with the wife of Villa defender Victor Lindelof sharing a photograph of William celebrating with the squad’s family and friends.

Maja Lindelof uploaded the image on her social media story accompanied by a caption that translates to ‘off the rails’.

Villa’s remarkable campaign had already guaranteed their return to the Champions League prior to their triumph in the Europa League final.

On the final day they can secure fourth place as Unai Emery continues to flourish in the Midlands while he further carves his name into Europe’s secondary competition.

He stated: “All the times I am successful in this competition I needed good players. Now I am so thankful for the players, they are following our ambitions.

“They are protagonists on the field. This is the reason I am not feeling the king in this competition. I am feeling really thankful – we are the kings together.

“After 1982 the club won the European Cup, it was something they were missing – the supporters – a trophy. Achieving this one is making us so, so happy but we are not going to stop.”
