Arsenal information: £90m striker has ‘already made choice’ as star addresses Gunners switch

Arsenal are eyeing further glory after winning the Premier League and Mikel Arteta also has his mind on signings to further bolster his squad in the summer transfer window

Arsenal are set to enter the summer transfer window from a position of strength after finally ending their 22-year title drought.

The newly crowned Premier League champions could also be Champions League winners by the time the transfer market opens. Mikel Arteta’s squad hoisted the Premier League trophy on Sunday and could further cement their legacy before the season concludes. The Gunners are gearing up to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final this weekend.

They aim to clinch the title for the first time in the club’s history. And while several of their domestic competitors are undergoing periods of transition ahead of the summer, the stability provided by Arteta’s side could give the club an edge in the transfer market. Here’s all the latest news from the Emirates Stadium.

Julian Alvarez transfer ‘decision’

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has conceded Julian Alvarez has likely already made up his mind about his future.

The Argentina international, who is reportedly valued at £90million, has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal, reports the Mirror.

“It’s not a question for me, it’s a question for Julian,” Simeone told Movistar when quizzed about Alvarez’s future. “He’s old enough to know what he’s going to do, and I imagine he’s already made his decision.”

The former Manchester City ace netted 20 goals in all competitions for Atletico this season.

Ahead of the Champions League semi-finals clash with Arsenal, Simeone revealed the Gunners were among the clubs showing interest in the 26-year-old.

“I’m not inside Julian Alvarez’s head,” Simeone stated back in April. “It’s normal that an extraordinary player like Julian Alvarez is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona. It’s normal because he’s very good.”

Leandro Trossard discusses his future

Leandro Trossard has confirmed he anticipates remaining at Arsenal next season.

The Belgian striker has made 49 appearances in all competitions this term but is approaching the final 12 months of his contract.

When questioned about his future at Arsenal, Trossard told Metro: “At the moment, yes. I still have one year on my contract, and hopefully, first we win the Champions League. Then I think next season can be another very nice season.”

The 31-year-old was a target for other clubs last summer. However, the Arsenal star explained how a conversation with Arteta influenced his decision to stay and play a key role in the team’s success.

“Competition is always there,” Trossard said. “I am not afraid of that. They can bring in whoever they want. I know that I can hold my own.

“It was more about appreciation towards me, and I did feel that. In the summer, I had a very good conversation with the coach. He also helped me in those negotiations and showed me that he really saw me as an important piece.”
