Police hunt man dressed as bride in reference to sexual assault in Liverpool metropolis centre

CCTV images of a man dressed in a knee-length white gown and veil have been shared by Merseyside Police as they appeal to the public for help following a reported sexual assault on Mathew Street in Liverpool city centre

A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in Liverpool city centre, as detectives are on the hunt for a man dressed as a bride in relation to the attack. CCTV images of a man wearing a knee-length white dress and veil have been circulated by Merseyside Police as they call on the public for assistance.

Around 8.10pm on Saturday, May 2, it was reported that a woman was sexually assaulted by a man she encountered outside Remeniss bar on Mathew Street.

Detectives have now released CCTV images of a man they believe could aid their investigation. The images seem to depict a white man with short brown hair and a beard, donned in a fancy dress bridal outfit and white trainers.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police stated that the man was part of a group of other men also in fancy dress costumes, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim who has been supported by our officers during the investigation.

“We take reports of any sexual assaults in our city centre very seriously and our detectives are working hard to ensure that the person responsible is identified so we can continue to make Merseyside a safer place to visit and work.

“I am appealing to anyone who remembers being at the bar on Saturday, May 2 and recognises this man or knows who he is to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
