Manchester United are aiming for back-to-back Premier League wins under Michael Carrick when they travel to face Everton this weekend.

Following a dismal opening day loss against newly-promoted Hull City, the Red Devils thumped another newcomer to the division, Ipswich Town, at home last Sunday. Since then, the summer transfer window has slammed shut, with United’s revamped squad ready to compete on four fronts this campaign.

The English giants will make a return to the Champions League, meaning they needed to add quality and depth in terms of new signings. And while some may not have been secured just yet, they remain on the radar for Carrick and United chiefs. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Hands-off warning over Hall

Matthias Jaissle has delivered a hands-off message to United regarding Lewis Hall’s future, reports the Mirror.

Newcastle’s standout left-back, 21, was reportedly United’s primary target before the Red Devils failed to bring in reinforcements in that area.

Magpies boss Jaissle has responded by heaping acclaim on his player ahead of any future bids from United to secure his services. The German has indicated his desire to witness £75million-rated Hall flourishing at St James’ Park for years to come.

“He’s a huge, huge potential player,” said Jaissle in a press conference this week. “He’s delivering already on a high level but we all know that there’s much more to come.

“We’re really excited that he is a part of that team and hopefully also in the long term.”

United’s inability to bring in a new left-back this summer indicates the club will launch a fresh bid to bolster the position next year. Nevertheless, Newcastle will again seek to fend off any approaches for their asset.

Hall has begun this campaign encouragingly despite conceding a late penalty in the 2-2 stalemate with Liverpool on the opening weekend. He responded with a standout display in Newcastle’s 2-0 triumph at Tottenham seven days later and will play a crucial part under Jaissle this season.

Redknapp praises ex-United target

Jamie Redknapp has suggested United let a golden opportunity slip by not securing Mamadou Sangare this summer.

The Mali midfielder was among the names touted for a switch to Old Trafford as Carrick conducted a complete rebuild of his engine room.

Sangare, 24, eventually landed at Brentford following a club-record £39million exit from Lens. And he’s adapted effortlessly to the Premier League, convincing Redknapp that his valuation will soon reach nine figures.

“The best business I like is Sangare at Brentford,” said Redknapp. “I think he’s going to be a wonderful signing for them. He’ll probably be worth £120million in a few years. He’ll go to Brentford, establish himself as a top player.”

The Sky Sports analyst proceeded to affirm his belief Sangare appears to be the standout Premier League acquisition of the summer.

And at £40m, he could have represented a more cost-effective alternative to the likes of £50m Andrey Santos or £70m Baleba.

To his credit, Santos has so far seemed to justify his hefty price tag, while Baleba is yet to make his mark in midfield. That being said, Brentford continue to showcase their transfer market savvy, having seemingly unearthed another budding superstar.
