Altrincham city centre road shut after two hospitalised as police swarm space
Police are currently at the scene of a “serious incident” that saw two men rushed to hospital in the early hours of this morning (November 30).
The incident on Railway Street in Altrincham town centre saw calls made to police of a disturbance at around 3:20am.
Greater Manchester Police said the two victims have suffered serious injuries.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers are currently responding to a serious incident in Altrincham town centre.
“We were called shortly after 3:20am to reports of a disturbance on Railway Street in Altrincham town centre with two men suffering serious injuries.

“Emergency services have attended and taken the two males to hospital. One is being described as life-threatening, with the other described as life changing.
“One male has been arrested and remains in custody for questioning however enquiries are ongoing.
“Police would like to reassure the public that this incident is believed to be isolated, and a large number of officers are in the area. Businesses in the local area are likely to be affected whilst officers conduct enquiries.”
Inrix, the traffic monitoring site, has reported that Stamford New Road is closed as a result of the incident.
They said: “A538 Stamford New Road in both directions closed due to police incident from Regent Road to Altrincham Interchange.”
