Liverpool gamers seen main Mohamed Salah change earlier than bombshell Arne Slot outburst
Mohamed Salah is currently at odds with Liverpool manager Arne Slot, but it appears his team-mates noticed a change in the Egyptian before his incendiary interview
Liverpool stars were “braced” for an explosive outburst from Mohamed Salah, the day before their 3-3 away draw to Leeds United, according to reports.
Salah, 33, went nuclear with a shocking tirade against Arne Slot after Leeds’ dramatic comeback against the reigning Premier League champions. He accused Slot and the club of “throwing him under the bus” before stating there is “no relationship” between him and the Dutchman.
His future is now hanging in the balance and while he has trained since the mixed-zone commotion, he is expected to be left out of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan. Salah also insinuated their upcoming home match against Brighton and Hove Albion could be his final match for the Reds, with the Africa Cup of Nations and January transfer window on the horizons.
However, the individuals least surprised by his outburst may have been his Liverpool team-mates. According to the Athletic the Liverpool team were reportedly ‘braced for it’, sensing a shift in Salah’s demeanour on the Friday before the match.
This was seemingly the day Salah was informed he would once again be left out of the starting eleven, much to his frustration. Further clarity on his future is anticipated in the coming days, with Slot’s pre-match press conference on Monday evening, ahead of the Champions League clash with Inter Milan, on the horizon.
Slot is under pressure with just one victory from their last six outings across all competitions. Many supporters are questioning the 47-year-old’s future, despite his Premier League triumph last term and Salah’s remarks are unlikely to help restore confidence amongst the fanbase.
“There’s no relationship between us,” the Egyptian star revealed regarding his current standing with Slot. “It was very good relationship and now all of a sudden there is no relationship.”
Salah has featured 71 times under the manager, netting 39 goals and providing 26 assists in all competitions, with his performances particularly impressive during last season’s title-winning campaign.
A significant test now awaits Slot as he attempts to reverse Liverpool’s fortunes, having failed to establish any momentum or consistency in recent results.
“Really hard but it’s not about me,” the boss admitted when questioned about the atmosphere in the changing room following the stalemate with Leeds. “It’s about what the players feel, what the fans feel, what everyone who loves this football club feels.
“I think we all feel the same at this moment. But what I also hope everyone sees is these players are fighting really, really, really hard and combine that with good football. Again today, we hardly conceded a chance. We hardly conceded a chance and concede three goals.”
Liverpool are ninth in the Premier League and face a crucial clash against last season’s Champions League finalists Inter Milan. The Reds have tumbled down to 13th in the table but are one point away from the top eight.
Salah is not expected to play a role in the clash in response to his comments. Having scored a brace against Leeds United, Hugo Ekitike may lead the line, which could see £125million man Alexander Isak remain on the bench again.
