Good Morning Britain star left heartbroken following sudden member of the family’s dying
Journalist Katy Rickett – who married former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickett after interviewing him on GMB – took to Instagram to give a tribute after the death of a family member
A Good Morning Britain star has revealed her family’s distress following a heart-breaking death announcement. Journalist Katy Rickett – who has reported for the long-running ITV show since 2012 – took to Instagram to reveal the passing of the family dog, Daphne.
Katy, 47, is married to actor Adam Rickett, 47, who is known for playing Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley from 1997 to 2004. Alongside a montage of photos of Daphne, Katy revealed that both her and Adam had been ‘blindsided’ by the death.
In an emotional caption on Instagram, Katy – who married Adam after interviewing him on GMB in 2011 – wrote: “I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but goodnight and god bless to our beautiful baby Daphne who passed away last night.
“Many of you know that our eldest Tallulah has been very ill recently but losing Daphne has just blindsided us. She just got a stomach bug, we took her to the emergency vets because she stopped drinking “just incase” … they said she was stable then she just had a heart attack. She was only 5 and the shock and sadness just feels unbearable right now.”
The couple – who also own artisan bottle shop called Dexter and Jones in Cheshire – revealed how Daphne was their “wobbly” princess who had had operations to deal with chronic limb deformity from a young age.
Katy wrote: “I’m terrified I saved the last kisses for T each night because I thought we had all the time in the world with Daphne and now she’s gone it feels like our hearts have been torn apart.
“Daphne was our beautiful baby wobble princess… our Peter Pan who never grew up. She had chronic limb deformity so from the age of 1 we started operating on her legs to help her survive what would have otherwise been rippling arthritis and she was always such a trooper.
“Turns out she still hated walking even after her recovery! But loved being pushed around like a queen in her pram.
“She was the most gorgeous little diva, barked at us to vacate the sofa at 11pm but absolutely adored Sunday cuddles, sunshine, things on wheels, anything edible (and not) and going to the vets… she twice came to do lives with me there and would then always try to get in the car when I left at 4am!”
Katy finished off the emotional post: “Most of all she just loved to be loved and I hope she knew just how much love we will always have for her. Rest easy princess Daphne now you will always be happy and running pain free in the kingdom of wobble. I hope we see you there. Goodbye beautiful girl xxx.”
Adam also shared the news with his Instagram followers and wrote: “Sweet dreams my princess. Like everything you did it your way.
“We never got to say goodbye but hopefully you know how loved you were. Feel like the sun just left…but fingers crossed your brother is there to hold your paw. I will love your all my days.”
