A model who says she “looks like the girl next door” has revealed she secretly goes commando under her dresses – and has even filmed herself slipping off her underwear in public. Cayla Smith feels people often assume she is “sweet” and “innocent” because of her ultra-feminine style – but admitted she breaks one rule when it comes to her dressing routine.
“I wear very girly stuff and I know I come across like the girl next door,” said Cayla, who posts to more than 355,000 Instagram followers @caylabriii. “But I prefer going commando – especially under dresses.
“It’s just more comfortable, and it’s really fun.”
In one Instagram video, Cayla filmed herself taking off her underwear from underneath a long dress. She captioned the clip: “Lmk when you see it.”
In another, she joked: “much better off.” The 28-year-old said she started sharing the habit online after noticing how shocked people were by the contrast between her “sweet” look and her “cheeky” side.
Cayla said: “People always assume I’m really innocent because of how I dress. But I do have that side to me too – and I think that’s what people find funny.
“It’s satisfying to subvert expectations. I’m not doing anything crazy. I just don’t like wearing underwear.
“And if that shocks people, that’s on them.” Cayla, who lives in Texas, US, insisted her preference isn’t about trying to be provocative, but simply about feeling confident in her own skin.
She said: “I just feel better without it. I feel freer.
“Sometimes underwear is uncomfortable, and I don’t like feeling restricted. If I’m wearing a long dress anyway, I’m like ‘What’s the point?'”
It seems Cayla is not the only one who finds knickers unnecessary, though. She said she’s been surprised by how many women have messaged her privately after watching the videos.
She said: “I’ve had so many girls message me saying they do the same thing. So clearly I’m not the only one who wants to let it breathe.”
Cayla added that she has no plans to change her style, despite the attention – positive and negative – the clips have received. She said: “I love wearing long dresses.
“That’s always going to be my vibe. I’ll always look like the girl next door – I just don’t follow all the rules.
“It’s great to feel sexy and liberated at the same time.”
