One World Cup side are reportedly set to sack their head coach after just one World Cup game, with an official statement expected imminently
Only half of the 48 World Cup teams have kicked off their first match of the tournament, yet one country has already given their manager the boot following a catastrophic start to the competition.
Tunisia’s head coach Sabri Lamouchi, who once donned the Nottingham Forest jersey during his playing days, has been unceremoniously dismissed after their 5-1 drubbing by Sweden in the wee hours of Monday morning, according to reports.
TalkSPORT suggest an official announcement from Tunisia is on the cards, while ex-Sunderland player Wahbi Khazri will step in as temporary coach for their upcoming game against Japan on Sunday and is expected to hold the reins until the conclusion of the World Cup. Mondher Kebaier is being touted as the early frontrunner to take over from Lamouchi on a permanent basis, reports the Mirror.
Brighton’s Yasin Ayari scored twice for Sweden, who also saw Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres and Liverpool’s Alexander Isak on the scoresheet. Omar Rekik scored a consolation for Tunisia but it wasn’t even to spare the African side’s blushes, or seemingly keep the manager’s job.
