I by no means thought I’d get excited a couple of mattress till I hit the jackpot with this one

I read a review that said “This is the most comfortable bed I have slept in in my 50 years” – and I whole heartedly agree

A good bed can transform a bedroom, but I wasn’t quite prepared for just how much I’d fall for my shiny new Simba bed. Somehow, it’s managed to become both the star of my bedroom and the place I now look forward to retreating to at the end of the day.

Officially smitten, I can’t keep away from my lovely new Simba Fife Divan Bed. Described by the retailer as ‘a quiet classic’, it has a timeless, stylish design that gives my bedroom an instant glow-up without making it feel like I’ve spent weeks agonising over every interior detail.

Elegant, simple and beautifully rounded, I went for the rich chocolate brown shade, which feels like a welcome change from the usual parade of grey, black and beige beds. It’s surprisingly easy to style, while the warm, luxurious colour gives the room a cosy feel and makes it instantly more inviting.

The design is understated chic, with no fussy details or unnecessary extras fighting for attention – and that’s exactly what I love about it. It has a timeless quality that feels effortlessly stylish, so I can’t see myself waking up in a few years and wondering what I was thinking.

I also love that it makes an impact without trying too hard. Add some soft-striped bedding, a few plump cushions and a cosy throw, and suddenly my bedroom has gone from somewhere I simply sleep to my favourite little retreat at the end of the day.

A ‘quiet classic’ the bed frame is available in five sizes with three storage options

But like so many things in life, it’s never just about looks. This bed feels robust, sturdy and exquisitely crafted – and after being stung by a few ‘bargain’ beds in the past, I’ve learnt that sometimes splashing out a bit more truly pays off. With Simba, that extra investment feels warranted.

My model comes equipped with four drawers that slide effortlessly in and out on both sides, and a solid base that is far from flimsy. Available in single, double, king size and super king sizes, the bed base and headboard combination starts from £669.

The double option I chose cost slightly more at £899, with four drawers included. Additional options include two-drawer, no drawers, ottoman storage or base only – with prices adjusted accordingly.

Simba also offers a range of other bed choices that piqued my interest. These included the Simba Camden Bed with its generously padded, floor-standing headboard and the enticing Richmond Bed, featuring a curved headboard that exudes serious ‘chateau chic’ vibes.

Elsewhere at Dusk, the Wiltshire Bed Frame in Cappuccino also caught my eye. Currently slashed to £399, it’s a chic choice with considerable visual charm, though it lacks some of the additional features found in the Simba, such as an adjustable headboard or integrated storage.

Of course, a great bed deserves a mattress to match, and I didn’t want to compromise on comfort. I paired mine with the Simba Hybrid Essential, a medium-firm mattress that combines cushioning foam with up to 1,000 Aerocoil microsprings for a seriously cosy yet supportive sleep.

I like a mattress that feels supportive without making me feel like I’m sleeping on a plank of wood, and this strikes the balance perfectly. The graphite-infused foam is designed to help with temperature regulation, while the springs help minimise motion transfer – which is a lifesaver when my husband decides 2am is the perfect time to toss and turn and apparently compete in the Olympic gymnastics finals.

The Hybrid Essentials collection is offered in various sizes, with prices starting at £549 for the single size. But shoppers looking for an alternative might want to explore the Emma Original Pro Mattress. Featuring Thermosync for temperature control, prices start from £469 for a single size mattress.

Meanwhile at RemFit, the 5000 Lux Elite Hybrid Mattress is another popular choice that pledges to deliver ‘superior contouring and motion isolation.’ The double-sized mattress is currently available for £799.

Fellow Simba fans have been sharing their thoughts online. One customer who splashed out on a new Simba bed left a five-star review saying: “Lovely bed. I paid extra for the bed to be assembled but it was absolutely worth every penny. They came on time and swiftly assembled my bed which is exactly as it was on the photos and is extremely comfortable. I cannot recommend Simba Sleep enough.”

Another added: “This is the most comfortable bed I have slept in in my 50 years.”

The mattress has received glowing recommendations too, with one five-star review stating: “Brought the Simba hybrid mattress great service arrived next day. Really pleased comfortable and good night sleep.”

Another buyer commented: “I had been experiencing back ache in the mornings and realising our previous mattress was 10 years old I hoped a new one would solve it. So far so good…good nights sleep and no back pain in the morning.”

With over 65,000 reviews on Trustpilot alone, some feedback proved less glowing. One customer particularly noted: “The mattress is just ok. I’m still getting back pain but it’s not as bad as my last mattress I suppose.”

Personally, I feel as though I’ve hit the jackpot with my new purchases. If you fancy getting your hands on a Simba Fife Divan Bed and Hybrid Essentials Mattress for yourself, you can peruse Simba’s collection here.
