Tammy Abraham makes incredible goal-line clearance to help Roma take all three points

Tammy Abraham’s incredible goal-line clearance ensured Roma returned from the winter break with all three points against Bologna.

Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead against the visitors through Lorenzo Pellegrini’s sixth minute penalty. And that’s how it stayed – thanks to a little help from Abraham.

Bologna pushed for an equaliser in the second half and they almost found it in the depths of injury time. After former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling made an important block, Bologna won a corner with just seconds remaining.

A whipped ball into the box was flicked on by Nicolas Dominguez and found defender Jhon Lucumi at the back post. He directed a powerful header towards the goal, only for Abraham of all people to pop up on the line and head it clear.

Abraham’s header proved crucial as Roma held on to claim all three points in their quest for Champions League football.

He received congratulations from his team-mates

It didn’t take long for fans on Twitter to praise the former Chelsea man for his goal-saving actions. One wrote: “I love this guy.” As someone else wrote: “The anticipation from Abraham on the goal line clearance was outstanding!”

A third person added: “This goal line clearance from Tammy Abraham.” While a fourth commented: “That was a great hell of a block and clearance from Smalling and Abraham.”

Roma moved up to sixth in the table after their narrow win over Bologna. Mourinho’s men are level on points with Lazio and Inter Milan, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Abraham, meanwhile, hasn’t proved quite as prolific as he did in his debut season with the capital club. The 25-year-old bagged 27 goals in all competitions last season as Roma won the Europa Conference League.

However, he only has four goals to his name so far this term, with only three of those coming in Serie A.
