‘Dynamic duo to shine once more at Southwell’ – Jason Heavey’s Tuesday horse racing suggestions
The Daily Star Chief Tipster reckons an Olly Murphy-trained hurdler looks a good thing at Southwell while his nap is a confident choice earlier on at the Nottinghamshire track
EATON ANNE (2.52) is given another chance to prove his worth in the Download The At The Races App Handicap Hurdle at Southwell on Tuesday.
The seven-year-old, trained by Olly Murphy and ridden by his partner in winners, champion jockey Sean Bowen, won twice last season and was a hot favourite to make a winning return at the Nottinghamshire track two and a half weeks ago, but could only finish a slightly lacklustre fourth.
That run may have blown away a few cobwebs though, and perhaps the step up to three miles for the first time since winning his point-to-point a couple of years ago will bring about some improvement.
Earlier on at Southwell, AS LEGENDS HAVE IT (12.52, nap) can benefit from a switch to fences in the Grace And Dotty Country Clothing Handicap Chase.
The six-year-old trained by Ben Pauling was a fairly useful bumper winner and had a progressive profile over hurdles, recording excellent efforts at Uttoxeter and Cheltenham, albeit without getting his head in front.
But the son of Jack Hobbs is ready to make his presence felt over the bigger obstacles, particularly as most of his five rivals have something to prove.
LIKEALOT (2.00, nb) may be able to bring a frustrating run of results to an end in the Midnite Are Upping The Betting Game Handicap on the all-weather at Lingfield Park.
The daughter of Camelot looked really promising when winning on her Chelmsford debut in February, but she came up short in Listed company next time and has since been placed on five of her six starts in handicaps, picking up the silver medal on four occasions.
While her progress does appear to have plateaued, the Ralph Beckett trainee looks to have been found a good opportunity to get her head back in front.
On the all-weather at Newcastle, AISLING OSCAR (5.45, trb) is the pick for the Always Gamble Responsibly at BetMGM Handicap.
He looked a cut above when bolting up at Newcastle five days ago, travelling strongly throughout before winning on the bridle, so this improving gelding could run up a sequence of victories in this sphere now.
