Schoolboy, 15, is discovered lifeless in woodland in Cornish seaside city

A teenage boy has been found dead in an area of woodland in a Cornish town.

The body of a 15-year-old local schoolboy was discovered in Bude yesterday afternoon, and emergency services were called.

Police and medics rushed to the woods but, despite their best efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they responded to concerns for the boy’s welfare, and that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the force said: ‘We were called at around 4.25pm on Thursday 8 January following a report of a concern for welfare for a male in a wooded area in Bude.

‘The emergency services attended and despite best efforts, a 15-year-old local boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘His next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.’
