HANDICAP king Dan Skelton can strike again with TOP GUY (2.40, nb) at Newbury on Wednesday.
An Irish point winner, the son of Court Cave has only triumphed once under Rules – but that was his latest run in a novice hurdle at Aintree last month.
He looked a useful stayer on that occasion, finding plenty to lead close home, and a further improvement on that on his handicap debut can see him take the honours in the Wendigo Wins The Brown Advisory Hurdle.
In the opener at the Berkshire course, SOBER GLORY (12.35) can regain the winning thread in the first division of the Boylesports Novices’ Hurdle.
The gelding under the care of training combo Philip Hobbs and Johnson White was an odds-on disappointment last time out at Sandown.
But before then, he won all three of his bumpers before making all in a Chepstow maiden in November and deserves another chance to prove his worth.
Today’s top selection is KRISSY (3.05, nap) in the Midnite Aint Your Grandads Bookie Handicap at Lingfield Park.
The five-year-old mare trained by the canny Jim Goldie looks the pick of the weights on the back of a very good second place at Southwell recently.
She has also won two of her five starts on the all-weather and is taken to edge out C&D scorer Dubai Harbour
In the evening action at Kempton, WHENTHEDEALINSDONE (8.00) should strip fitter for a recent run as he lines up in the Unibet Supports Safer Gambling Handicap.
Having his first start since September, Roger Teal’s runner was three and a half lengths adrift of the winner that day and given he won off 90 in his pomp, his current perch of 74 looks workable.
