Donald Trump’s ‘actual cause’ for desirous to take over Greenland uncovered

Donald Trump has long insisted control of Greenland is important for US “national security”, but a new social media post suggests it’s also vital for his proposed Golden Dome missile defence system

US President Donald Trump has exposed the real motive behind his obsession with seizing Greenland in a Truth Social post. Trump has repeatedly claimed that controlling the territory is crucial for American national security.

However, he’s largely pointed to worries about Russian and Chinese vessels roaming freely in Greenland’s surrounding waters to justify his stance. In turn, Britain, NATO and Denmark have pledged to bolster their security presence in the region — hoping this will dissuade Trump from launching an assault on the Danish territory.

Yet, a message Trump shared on Truth Social this afternoon hints at another motive – one that would make possession far more beneficial. “The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security,” he posted.

“It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building”, he wrote, according to the Mirror. The Golden Dome represents a proposed missile defence network, akin to Israel’s Iron Dome, which Trump has floated throughout his opening year back in the White House.

Information about the Golden Dome remains sparse, though US weapons contractor Lockheed Martin has presented a blueprint for a “layered defence shield” designed to “safeguard the American homeland.” Trump continued: “NATO should be leading the way for us to get it.

“IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent — Not even close! They know that, and so do I.”

He went on: “NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES. Anything less than that is unacceptable.”

Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory belonging to NATO ally Denmark, finds itself at the heart of a geopolitical tempest as Trump demands ownership — whilst inhabitants of its capital, Nuuk, insist it’s not up for grabs. The White House has declined to rule out Trump seizing the Arctic island through military means.

Vance, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, is scheduled to meet Denmark’s foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and his Greenlandic counterpart Vivian Motzfeldt in Washington later on Wednesday to discuss Greenland. Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen declared at a press conference in Copenhagen on Tuesday that “if we have to choose between the United States and Denmark here and now, we choose Denmar”k.

He further stated: “We choose NATO. We choose the Kingdom of Denmark.

“We choose the EU.” When questioned about Nielsen’s remarks later on Tuesday, Trump responded: “I disagree with him.

“I don’t know who he is. I don’t know anything about him.
