The Masters returns this week as the world’s best golf stars compete for the coveted Green Jacket at Augusta National.

Rory McIlroy made history last year when he sealed his career Grand Slam, becoming only the sixth player in history to achieve the feat. The Northern Irishman’s emotional triumph will see him as the man to overthrow this time around.

McIlroy has been married to former PGA worker Erica since 2017 but the couple endured a nightmare 2024 as McIlroy filed for divorce after their bond became “irretrievably broken”, but he made a U-turn soon after as the two continue to attempt to reconcile for their daughter Poppy.

Erica and Poppy were there to congratulate and celebrate McIlroy’s history-making grand slam win at Augusta last year despite the turmoil of their marriage.

However, McIlroy isn’t the favourite to retain his title with that burden landing on the shoulders of world No.1 Scottie Scheffler, with the support of his childhood sweetheart Meredith. While Jon Rahm is looking to get his hands on the trophy he won in 2023. Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele continue the hopes of the American crowd while 2024 runner-up Ludvig Aberg enjoys playing at Augusta.
