A social media influencer has passed away after being run over by a car outside a nightclub in Soho, with the Met Police releasing a statement detailing the charges
A social media influencer has died after being run over by a car outside a nightclub in Soho in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Instagram and TikTok star Klaudiaglam – real name Klaudia Zakrzewska – had been fighting for her life in hospital after she and two other pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. It is now understood she has since died from her injuries.
A fellow social media personality was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving. Polish-born Klaudia, who had amassed 258,000 followers on Instagram, had attended Inca nightclub with friends on Saturday night.
She is believed to have been involved in a heated argument outside the venue shortly before the incident. Emergency services were called at around 4.30am following reports that a car had collided with pedestrians.
Footage circulating online appears to show the terrifying moment a black vehicle drives into a group of people gathered outside the club. In the video, Klaudia is seen being knocked to the ground and becoming trapped underneath the car as bystanders rush to help.
A man, believed to have been attempting to unlock an e-scooter, is also caught up in the incident and thrown aside by the impact.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving. She remains in custody. Officers have said the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
A man in his 50s sustained life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital, while another woman in her 30s was treated for minor injuries.
The Met Police released a statement: “Klaudia Zakrzewska, 32, from Essex, was involved in a collision on Argyll Street in the early hours of Sunday, 19 April. She was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on Saturday, 25 April.
“Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Klaudia’s family and friends in light of this tragic update. Our thoughts are also with everyone impacted by this incident.“‘We recognise that this case has generated significant interest and discussion on social media; however, we would urge the public to refrain from further speculation.
“‘We also ask that people do not share graphic footage out of respect for Klaudia’s loved ones and for those who have been injured. The circulation of such material could also undermine our ongoing criminal investigation and potentially prejudice future court proceedings'”.A 58-year-old man also suffered life-changing injures following the incident.On Monday, 20 April, Gabrielle Carrington, 29 (06.11.96), of Broadfield Road, Manchester, was charged with: attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, drink driving.
She appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 21 April and was remanded into custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 19 May.
Following Klaudia’s death, the charge of attempted murder will be amended to murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, of Specialist Crime South, previously said: “As our enquiries continue, our thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones.
“While this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open, and we believe a number of people will have seen what happened.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or any activity prior to it that they feel may be of relevance, to come forward.
“The information you have – however minor you believe it may be – could be of crucial importance to investigators.”
