‘I partied at Ibiza’s iconic Café Mambo and this one factor left me speechless’

Ibiza is defrosting for yet another sun-soaked summer season
Ibiza’s most iconic waterfront venue is back for another season of golden-hour performances as partygoers return for a magical, unforgettable White Isle escape.
From the moment we arrived on opening weekend, just as Ibiza began to heat up for the 2026 summer season, there was a real electricity in the air as partygoers poured in from across the globe, ready to soak up the unmistakable Ibiza energy we’d all been waiting for year-round.
At the very heart of it all is Café Mambo, which truly lives up to every bit of its legendary reputation. Perched on the iconic San Antonio sunset strip, an evening at Café Mambo feels like watching the soul of Ibiza come alive in real time. Guests can settle in with glorious food, sumptuous cocktails and breathtaking coastal views, before witnessing one of the island’s world-famous sunsets paint the sky in spectacular colour.
There’s something for everyone whether you’re a seafood lover, in which case the Baja California-style fish tacos are an absolute must, or more of a meat fan where the black Angus rump steak is a standout choice, all washed down with an extensive drinks menu that perfectly complements every dish.
Resident DJ Jason Bye set the tone with chilled Ibiza house sounds, even slipping in a moment of Enya’s Caribbean Blue as the sun dipped towards the horizon before gradually lifting the energy as the evening went on and the drinks began to flow. We were completely lost for words at the stunning orange skyline, visible right from our table.
We watched the sky melt into deep golds and oranges as the atmosphere subtly shifted, with guests slowly rising from their seats as the vibe picked up across the terrace.
Not long after the sun disappeared completely, the entire deck was up dancing together, eyes closed, arms in the air and fully immersed in pure Ibiza bliss. Café Mambo isn’t just another venue, it’s an essential Ibiza experience for anyone arriving on the island.
It’s an iconic part of White Isle history and watching the sunset here is nothing short of magical, making it easy to see why this hotspot has become a rite of passage for generations of visitors.
Café Mambo first opened its doors in 1994 when Javier Anadon transformed a simple spot on San Antonio’s cliffs into what would become one of Ibiza’s most legendary sunset destinations. Since then, it has attracted global DJs, celebrities and clubbers for decades, evolving into one of the island’s most recognisable nightlife institutions.
Over the years, the decks have been graced by some of the biggest names in dance music, including Steve Aoki, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Fisher, CamelPhat, Martin Solveig, Boy George and Swedish House Mafia, all soundtracking those famous golden-hour moments as the sun sets over the Balearic Sea.
This season got underway in style with an opening party marking the start of summer, headlined by Hannah Wants, who joined resident DJs Jason Bye, Andy Baxter and Ryan McDermott for a night that set the tone for the months ahead on the island.
The Mambo world stretches far beyond its famous sunset terrace, with its signature vibe running right across the island so you can experience it whether you’re deep in the buzz of San Antonio or enjoying a more laid-back evening in Ibiza Old Town.
We stayed at Sa Clau, a stylish boutique hotel perfectly placed in the heart of San Antonio, making it an ideal base for moving effortlessly between beach days, sunset sessions and nights out on the town.
From there, we slowed the pace at Las Mimosas, a tranquil spa hotel where we enjoyed a relaxed pool day, cocktails in the sunshine and a much-needed recovery session after the night before, stretching out on the Bali beds and soaking up the calm Mediterranean atmosphere.
The Mambo food offering was a real standout throughout the trip, delivering the perfect mix of flavour and laid-back island dining. We tucked into vibrant tacos and crispy cheese croquettes at Palapas overlooking a lively waterfront scene, with long tables and cosy sofas designed for sharing plates, stories and laughter.
In Ibiza Old Town, La Cava delivered a tapas experience bursting with flavour and character. Highlights included the leek croquettes, the classic Spanish potato and onion omelette, and we’re still thinking about the grilled seabass with pil pil and apple vinegar, which was cooked to perfection. The glazed aubergine was a clear crowd-pleaser too, but a special mention has to go to the extra juicy green olives that kept everyone reaching back in for more.
