Donald Trump ‘severely contemplating’ turning Venezuela into 51st US state

Donald Trump has previously suggested that Venezuela could become America’s 51st state

Donald Trump is reportedly “seriously considering” making Venezuela the 51st state of America.

The US president is said to have mentioned the move during a call with Fox News reporter John Roberts.

“Just got off the phone with @realDonaldTrump … he told me he is seriously considering a move to make Venezuela the 51st state…” Roberts said in a post on X.

Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of the South American country joining the US in a series of remarks made during the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

He first made the suggestion after Venezuela beat Italy 4-2 during the tournament semi-final in March, posting on Truth Social: “Good things are happening to Venezuela lately. I wonder what this magic is all about? STATEHOOD, #51, ANYONE?”

The comments came amid growing US involvement in Venezuela following the capture of former president Nicolas Maduro.
