Cheetham Hill stabbing as teen knifed in alley close to tram cease and armed cops cordon scene

A cordon is in place on Woodlands Road, close to the Abraham Moss tram stop, with a number of ambulances and police vehicles in attendance

A teenage boy has been stabbed in an alleyway near a tram stop this evening. Paramedics were called to the scene in Cheetham Hill, Manchester to reports of the assault earlier this afternoon.

Woodlands Road, near the Abraham Moss tram stop, has been cordoned off, with several ambulances and police vehicles present at the scene.

An alleyway next to the Abraham Moss Metrolink stop is also under cordon. A significant police presence can be seen outside the nearby leisure centre as well reports the Manchester Evening News.

The victim is understood to have been knifed in the leg and since rushed to hospital.

One resident, who lives beside the cordon, has claimed knife crime is ‘so frequent’ in the area.

He claimed he knew about the incident after first hearing emergency services arrive at around 4pm today.

Woodlands Road resident Jake Ellaway said: “It happened in the ginnel towards the Metrolink stop next to Woodlands Road.

“We knew as soon as we heard the sirens coming, then saw the young lad on the floor.

“The paramedics turned up, then the advanced paramedics arrived. He’s been taken to hospital.”

He added: “Knife crime is so frequent in the area. A few weeks ago a similar incident happened and it was only yesterday that two lads in Levenshulme were stabbed.”
