Cosmetic surgical procedure influencer is distributed to the Russian frontline as punishment for ‘blinding’ a affected person in botched surgical procedure

A cosmetic surgery influencer was sent to the Russian front line as a punishment after she left a patient ‘blind’ during a botched surgery.

Dr Ekaterina Lonskaya, 40, was sentenced to 11 months in a grim penal colony and banned from working as a medic for two and a half years.

But the punishment was wiped in return for her being sent to treat maimed Russian troops in Vladimir Putin‘s war.

The disgraced doctor has already been sent to work as a regular surgeon in a makeshift military hospital.

‘My decision [to go to the war zone] may seem too risky or too dangerous to many,’ she told her 20,000-plus Instagram followers.

‘But I believe that in such a difficult period in our country’s life, any doctor in my place would have done exactly the same.

‘Over the coming year, while preserving my professional honour and human dignity, I will treat people under a contract with the Ministry of Defence in the [war zone].’

Before she was sentenced, Dr Lonskaya offered VIP cosmetic surgery to VIP clients.

But her patient Inna Boroda, 47, faced a £400,000 nightmare after surgery which left her unable to fully close her eyes, suffering severe pain, and rapidly losing her sight in both eyes.

For a while she lost all sight, and needed four corrective operations in Italy because Russian medics said her condition was ‘too complex’.

Instagrammer Dr Lonskaya sought to prove her innocence but said: ‘I did not succeed – I lost…’

Her hair trimmed, she announced in a video to her followers that she was going to the war zone.

‘I am sure that this story in no way defines me – neither as a doctor nor as a person.’
