A rider has tragically died after a horrific incident in Wednesday’s qualifying session for the 2026 Isle of Man TT Races.

Tributes have been paid to Daniel Ingham, 33, after the rider was involved in a terrifying crash at the event. The Isle of Man TT Races account confirmed the devastating news and posted their sympathies to Ingham’s family.

Ingham from Melton Mowbray, was killed in an incident during qualifying yesterday. The accident occurred at Doran’s Bend, on the first lap of the third qualifying session.

The statement said: “The Isle of Man TT Races are deeply saddened by the passing of Daniel Ingham following an incident in yesterday evening’s qualifying session for the 2026 Isle of Man TT Races.

“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Daniel’s family, loved ones, and friends. We would also like to send our heartfelt sympathies to his team.

“Whilst 2026 marked his TT debut, Daniel had over a decade of experience on the Mountain Course having competed in the Manx Grand Prix since 2016, claiming a number of podiums in that time, and winning the prestigious Senior MGP in 2024.

“A popular and well-respected member of the road racing community, Daniel’s passion for the sport was evident to all that knew him.”

They added: “The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to his wife, Helayna, and his son Joey and daughter Phoebe, as well as his family and friends.”

Fans on social media left their own messages, as one user wrote: “Never gets any easier to read these, thoughts go out the friends and family. Rest easy Daniel.” A second said: “RIP Daniel, Road racing legend!” While a third added: “RIP.”

On Bank Holiday Monday, racing was stopped following a “serious incident” involving a rider and eight spectators.

All involved needed medical care after a crash that took place at the exit to Parliament Square in Ramsey. Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson confirmed that the rest of the day’s schedule had been called off “as management of the incident” carried on.
