Gerwyn Price complains his way through win over Michael Smith with 102 average

Gerwyn Price cut a grumpy and distracted figure despite continuing his excellent form against world champion Michael Smith.

Two of darts’ heavyweights collided in the quarter-finals as Rotterdam took its turn to host a Premier League night. The match went to form with Price winning 6-3 after recovering from 3-1 down by winning five straight legs.

To mark his visit to the Netherlands, the Iceman ditched his usual attire and wore an orange shirt, which went down well with the 11,000-strong crowd, who were wearing similar outfits.

However, Price’s mood during the match was much darker than his shirt as he could be seen grumbling throughout. At one point he exchanged words with Smith after winning a leg and regularly shook his head, even after successful visits.

Commentators Dan Dawson and Wayne Mardle were mystified by Price’s behaviour, suggesting a draft on stage or distractions in the crowd may have upset the Welshman.
